Footpaths news
Observant walkers may have noticed that several areas crossing cultivated land have been sprayed, thus opening up old footpaths for walking again.  These paths are open to all and we should all exercise our rights to walk and enjoy them.  Signs or waymarkers  are in place to show the routes clearly.

Sometimes people get into the habit of using a path just because it is convenient but unless signed or waymarked, all paths are not accessible to the public.  One such case is the track which turns right towards the railway and Town Thorns just before entering Brick Kiln Spinney (on the border of Newbold Revel grounds).  This track is not a footpath or bridleway open to the public and should not be used as such.  The correct route to take, when walking from the village, is to follow the footpath sign right, through a metal 5-bar gate just after crossing the main drive to Newbold Revel and passing through the little clump of trees.  The path diagonally crosses the next two fields and meets the footpath to the railway bridge and Town Thorns in the corner of the second field, where there is a (redundant) stile.  Please ensure that this route is used if you are doing this walk.

Footpath R71 is open again after many years of disuse.  This can be accessed by walking up New Road (by the Rugby bus stop) and crossing the cattle grid.  A new kissing gate has been installed and the path is waymarked, going to the right (north) across the field, through old brick workings and crossing Mr Baxter's paddock by means of two more kissing gates.  It then goes through a further kissing gate which leads into Mr Field's field and links up with the well-used footpath there.

As ever when using any footpaths, please keep to the path and keep dogs under control, or on the lead if there is any livestock about.
