Simon Mayor & HilaryJames - Live & Local Performance, 16.10.09
Simon Mayor and Hilary James played, sang and joked their way through a fantastic evening in the village hall to provide entertainment to a full house. Their versatility and expertise fascinated and enthralled the audience, with Hilary coaxing marvellous sounds from her giant mando-bass, playing the guitar and singing delicate melodies. Simon favoured guitar and mandolin and entertained us too with his skill as a raconteur and mimic! No wonder the audience demanded an encore!

Live and Local - Irish Harp and Guitar, 21st November 2008
Another popular Live and Local production gave us an exciting, lively concert with Maire Ni Chathasaigh playing her Irish harp and Chris Newman on acoustic guitar. We were fortunate to have the UK's best players in their field on these instruments and they gave us a fantastic variety of music, from jigs and reels to jazz and folk. The hall was packed to capacity; everyone's feet were tapping along to the music and the applause was from the audience's hearts.
It gave us our first chance to use our new stage and lighting (thankyou, Rugby RDF!) which greatly enhanced the experience for both performers and audience.

The Parish Plan Public Meeting, Monday 21st January 2007
This is a village with residents who really care about its future!
Almost every area of the village, from Oak Tree Cottages to the opposite end of Main Street, was represented at the meeting held to discuss the findings of the Survey Report and to suggest solutions and actions to incorporate into the Parish Plan.
Chair of the Parish Plan Steering Group, Tracy Darke, guided villagers through the report which they then discussed, producing interesting, thoughtful and practical suggestions that will be used by the Steering Group when they meet to begin the process of writing the Parish Plan on 28th January.

A glass of wine helps the discussion along!
The Christmas Concert, 18th December 2007
The hall was packed with village residents for the now traditional Christmas Concert. The audience enjoyed carols, accompanied by Sally Aitchison; solos, 'O come O come Emmanuel' and 'O Holy Night' by Alan Gittings; an original Christmas story, 'New Birth' by Nigel Malka; Christmas songs by Tilly, Libby, Thomas and Holly supported by Sue Hartshorn and Sam Smith and Bible readings by villagers. The hall and stage were decorated in true festive style by Terry Hartshorn and the concert was organised by Peter Bromley.
It was marvellous to see such an array of talent from Stretton and other local villages. Mince pies and mulled wine helped to make the evening a most enjoyable, seasonal social occasion.

Demonstration of Christmas Floral Decorations by Norman Clarke
Tuesday 4th December
The Village Hall was full of seasonal cheer as Norman Clarke treated his audience to a delightful evening of beautiful floral arrangements to start the festive season.
Welcomed by Shirley Smith, Norman commenced the demonstration by trimming a tree with various swags and decorations to show different colour combinations. Natural materials, which are very fashionable this Christmas, were used for foliage displays, table arrangements and door wreaths.
In the interval, the audience was able to purchase a variety of decorations and plants whilst enjoying mince pies and a glass of wine. All the lovely arrangements that Norman had created during the demonstration were raffled at the end of the evening, to the delight of the lucky winners.
